Restorative and Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic DentistryIt’s not just about how your smile looks. It’s about maintaining good oral health and preventing future dental problems. Dr. Govani draws on a wide range of technology in order to provide treatment that’s the right fit for you. Govani Dental can help with common restorative services, like fillings, crowns and implants. In addition, we offer a full range of restorative and cosmetic dental services to meet your needs.

Dental Implants

Govani Dental offers patients with damaged or missing teeth a way to get their smile back. Dental implants are designed to give patients new artificial teeth that look and feel like the teeth they’re replacing. Here is what you can expect from dental implant treatment:

  1. Dr. Govani and her trusted specialist will first determine if you are a good candidate for implants.
  2. After evaluation, the specialist will secure the titanium implant into place.
  3. Once the implant area has a chance to heal and integrate the bone, Dr. Govani fabricates a custom-made crown for the implant and secures the new tooth in place.

Dr. Govani enjoys restoring dental implants to improve both function and aesthetics, helping patients feel more confident in their smile and in the ability to eat normally.

Removable Prosthetics (Dentures and Partials)

Govani Dental also helps patients who have, or need, removable tooth replacement options. We provide both complete and partial dentures. Complete dentures are used when all of a patient’s natural teeth are missing. Partial dentures are used to fill in missing teeth as needed. Whatever situation you may be in, we can help your mouth feel better and help you feel confident in your smile.

Oral Surgery

Govani Dental offers oral surgery services at our Oshkosh office and through our referrals to trusted specialists. Some of the in-office oral surgery services we offer include: TMD (temporomandibular disorders) as well as the extraction of permanent and primary teeth.

TMD can often cause discomfort and myofacial pain. Myofacial pain is due to muscles in the head, neck or body being contracted and tense and can be experienced from stress, clenching or grinding teeth. It can be characterized by face and jaw pain. Dr. Govani works with patients to find the most conservative solutions. A few options she may recommend are:

  • Prescribing a custom fit occlusal guard to help prevent bruxing or grinding
  • Soft food
  • Jaw, head and neck stretches
  • Pain relief medications
  • Massage therapy
  • Referral to pain management specialist

Dr. Govani is committed to ensuring all patients are comfortable, and will work to find the solution that is best for you.

Root Canal Therapy

Also known as endodontic procedures, root canal therapy deals with diseases of the tooth root, dental pulp and surrounding tissue. Govani Dental uses the latest technology to make these procedures as comfortable as possible. If the pulp inside a tooth becomes infected, you may have discomfort and are at risk for losing the tooth. Govani Dental can fix and restore your tooth to health before it’s too late.

Periodontal Procedures

Maintaining and preventing gum disease is very important. Gingivitis (inflammation of the gum tissue) can be the precursor to future health problems, like periodontitis and bone loss, and can affect your overall health. At Govani Dental, we put a key focus on periodontal health. Your teeth can’t truly be healthy without healthy gum tissue to support the teeth. For patients with advanced periodontal issues, we offer procedures to help get you back on track to oral health. We offer non-surgical procedures like scaling and root planing in addition to periodontal maintenance to keep your tissues stabilized.

Teeth Whitening

Sometimes regular brushing and flossing aren’t enough to keep your teeth as white as you’d like. Govani Dental can help whiten your teeth in a safe, effective way and offer guidance on how you can keep them that way.

Not sure what to expect from teeth whitening? A typical teeth whitening treatment with our team involves two office visits.

  1. In your first visit, we’ll make sure your teeth are good candidates for a whitening regimen. If they are, we’ll take diagnostic impressions to create custom trays that fit your teeth like a retainer. These trays will be molded to fit your teeth to prevent sensitivity and burning. The trays hold the whitening product for your in-office and home treatments.
  2. Following 2-4 weeks of at-home whitening sessions, you may return to our office to assess progress. Whitening session duration varies by the patient’s sensitivity and tooth condition.

Dr. Govani won’t just send you home with any whitening product. Custom whitening products we choose can prevent problems such as burning, teeth translucency, and sensitivity.
