December 9, 2016 (Oshkosh, Wis.)— Dr. Shaheda Govani recently earned the New Dentist Leadership Award from the Wisconsin Dental Association (WDA). The award was given at the WDA’s Pyramids of Pride Awards dinner.
The award recognizes dentists who have been out of school for 10 years or less and who are dedicated to and serve their profession and community. Govani, who graduated from the Marquette University School of Dentistry in 2010, opened her private practice in Oshkosh shortly after graduation. She also serves on the WDA’s Ethics Board and Membership Committee, is a representative to the WDA House of Delegates and is an active member of the Academy of General Dentistry. In addition, Govani provides advice and counsel to predoctoral dental student protégées through the Marquette University School of Dentistry Mentor Program, as well as dental students at Fox Valley Technical College.
In Oshkosh, she is active in the Oshkosh Area United Way and the Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce; is a member of the Oshkosh Rotary Club, which recognized her with the President’s Citation Award for her community service; and is a past member of Propel, Oshkosh’s young professionals group.
