Teeth Whitening

Professional Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening is one of the most common cosmetic dental procedures. Americans request teeth whitening services more than any other cosmetic dental service. At Govani Dental, we know regular brushing doesn’t always rid your teeth of stains, so we offer professional teeth whitening for patients who are a good fit for the service.

What Causes Teeth Stains?

Over time, our teeth lose their bright white color and become dull. Many things can change the shade of our teeth:

  • Certain food and beverages
  • Tobacco use
  • Injury or trauma
  • Certain medications and chemotherapy

Teeth whitening can help reverse the effect of these factors and restore your smile.

Is Teeth Whitening Safe?

Even if you plan to use an over-the-counter product, we recommend you ask us whether teeth whitening is safe for you. We do not recommend teeth whitening for:

  • Patients with recession or exposed roots
  • Patients with gum disease
  • Patients who have active decay or faulty restorations
  • Children under the age of 16
  • Pregnant women
  • Patients who are allergic to peroxide

At Govani Dental, we do a comprehensive check of your teeth and gums before we will recommend teeth whitening.

Professional Teeth Whitening Services

Govani Dental provides a safe whitening treatment. Here is what you can expect:

During your visit, we check your teeth and gums to ensure you are a good candidate for teeth whitening. If you are, we then take impressions of your teeth so we can create custom-fit trays for the whitening product. Trays that fit your teeth securely will prevent sensitivity and burning. You’ll then take the trays for at-home treatments.

We also offer an in-house whitening option for patients who are looking for an ultra-bright whitening with convenient chairside service.

Teeth whitening isn’t permanent, so how long the treatment lasts depends upon your exposure to causes that stain teeth. Whitening could fade in as little as a month, but patients who avoid stain-causing risks may be able to wait a year or more between treatments.

Ask Us About a Whiter Smile

Teeth whitening procedures can cause problems, especially for those with risk factors like gum disease. If you want to ensure a safe procedure, ask us about our professional teeth whitening services. Contact us with questions or to set up your teeth whitening appointment.
