How to Create a Tooth Brushing Routine for a Child

Dr. Shaheda Govani:

“When we talk about trying to take tooth brushing into account for children, it can be a challenge. It’s kind of like when I brush Ruby’s teeth. I recommend with moms and dads to consider a lap to lap technique – helping each other to brush the teeth or a time to do tooth brushing when it’s fun, such as bath time.

I know at our house Ruby is much more excited to brush her teeth when it’s related to something fun. We hope that’s what moms and dads will do with their young children as well, either before bedtime or reading a book.

I recommend oral hygiene brushing happening at least twice per day to introduce the child to how that feels and to make that part of their routine.”
